How Long Do Dental Crowns Last?

Dental crowns are designed to be durable, and with proper care, they can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or even longer. The longevity of a crown depends on various factors, such as the material used, your oral hygiene habits, and the location of the crown in your mouth. Porcelain and ceramic crowns are known for their aesthetic appeal and can last up to 15 years, while metal crowns can last even longer due to their resilience. Regular dental check-ups and proper maintenance, such as brushing and flossing, play a crucial role in extending the life of your dental crown.

"Had the BEST experience here today! It was my first time here and I was very very skeptical because I’ve been to a few other dentist offices and I didn’t like the energy or the way people were in there, especially the workers. But this place was AMAZING and I liked the energy in there. The workers were friendly and not awkward with me at all. We even had a few genuine laughs here and there. This establishment and its workers made me feel at ease and not uncomfortable. For that I appreciate them so much. I can go on and on but to anyone else looking for a dentist close by in Long Beach or just want to come here, I highly recommend this place!! Oh and the work was great too!! Very clean also :)"

"Came in for a cleaning after years of not going to the dentist and I was very nervous!!! But as soon as I stepped in the door I was greeted by two very friendly girls in the front office (which was super cute and clean!) and promptly helped by Diana who took my X-rays, she was super friendly and helpful! Both doctor and the hygienist took their time explain everything to me and answering any questions I had. And to top it all off every room I stepped into had amazing views ! 10/10 recommended the entire staff is super helpful and friendly!"

"I went in hopeless about my mouth; feeling I could not afford the necessary treatments to be happy with my smile again. With my initial exam I received excellent care and was advised of and given a printout of my treatment of care to be done. Now I know the whole picture and am self- informed of my care plan. Office staff outstanding. No shaming here. Thank you."

Frequently Asked Questions

What are dental crowns made of?

Dental crowns can be made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal alloys, and a combination. The material chosen depends on the location of the crown and your aesthetic preferences.

Is getting a dental crown a painful procedure?

Getting a dental crown is typically not painful. Local anesthesia is used to numb the area, and most patients report only mild discomfort during the procedure.

How do I take care of my dental crown?

Keep your dental crown in excellent condition, maintain good oral hygiene, avoid chewing on hard objects, and attend regular check-ups to ensure your crown remains intact.

How long does the process of getting a dental crown take?

The process typically involves two visits: one to prepare the tooth and take impressions, and a second to place the final crown. In some cases, same-day crowns can be made and placed during a single visit.
